Hon. Justice Mike Chibita at Paperless Pre-Hearing Conference Using ECCMIS at Supreme Court

"The Judiciary is trying to do away with the old system and use the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) which will make the registry accessible to everyone online. Both lawyers and parties will be able to know the status of their cases, so we are going to learn together," said Supreme Court Justice, Hon. This, he said, on Thursday March 24,2022 as he presided over the first paperless pre-hearing conference that was held ahead of a Civil Appeals session set to begin on April 12.

The purpose of the pre-hearing was to fix the hearing dates and to determine the formats for presentation of arguments during the Civil Appeals Session where 20 Civil Appeals and 18 Civil Applications will be handled.

The Supreme Court Deputy Registrar,HW Mary Babirye, shared that so far the Supreme Court doing its best to upload everything onto the system so that all the information is just a click away. She added that Justices at the Court have embraced the new System and are using it.

Commenting on the challenges of slow computers and lawyers not having user accounts the Deputy Registrar said this was a work in progress and would soon be sorted.

The upcoming session will be handled by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo with Justices; Hon.Lady Justice Stella Arach-Amoko, Hon. Justice Opio-Aweri, Hon.
